Ira began his hairdressing career in 1974 here in Washington, DC. He stands out as a unique mix of artistic talent, business acumen and vision, and he nurtures a genuine concern for his employees, his community and his guests. Ira led his team into building one of the most respected hair salons in the country, and a model for other salons nationwide.
Ira was selected to be a member of the most prestigious association in the beauty industry, Intercoiffure in 1992. He was chosen by Goldwell to represent North America at the Avant Garde Hair Show in Zurich, Switzerland. He is a master at the art of consultation to create personalized hair and great color for all of his guests.
In addition to his previous successes, Ira is personally a major talent and leader in the industry. He is a three-time finalist and winner of the North American Hairstyling Awards and his work has been featured in virtually every major trade publication. A consultant to some of the top hair salons in the country, Ira has been recognized many times by Washingtonian Magazine as one of the best and most consistent stylists in the area.
Ira has launched his most exciting effort yet – the Ira Ludwick Salon. Merely a few months after opening, this unique salon was already making its name as one of the top salons in Bethesda.
Ira maintains his enthusiasm for service by being a perpetual student. He has studied the art of hairdressing with the true legends and superstars of the world of hairdressing including Trevor Sorbie, Anthony Mascolo, John Sahag, Vivian McKinder, Oribe and Orlando Pita. He has a passion for teaching others, and he stays completely focused on his art, his craft and his guests.
